Thailand Ship Construction Companies, Thai Ship Construction Businesses

There are very few companies in Thailand
that are capable of constructing ships. By ships I mean small sized
coaster sized vessels not container ships or large super tankers. We can
leave that to the Japanese and nowadays the fine Korean shipyards.

Smaller ships, boats and yachts yes but
certainly not ocean going vessels. A few years ago I was asked to make
initial contact with ship builders capable of constructing dredgers. The
project was 'scuppered' after several weeks of work and long
negotiations when the inquiring company failed to pay up for the work
done. However the good thing is that we do have some good contacts with
the boat building and ship construction yards in Thailand. Of course these companies can undertake
ship repair work and this is generally the main part of their business.
Recently Bangkok Companies has become
involved in a small company offering yachts and boats for charter. This
has also resulted in meetings with some new boat building companies. A
new venture building state of the art carbon fiber racing yachts is my
next target. More about this soon.
