Qualifications
and Experience
Mahidol University International College
English Studies and Pre-College Program
For the past 18 months I’ve been teaching
university students at MUIC. This involves
teaching academic speaking, listening, reading
and writing to students of various ethnic
backgrounds. The college prepares students for
the international degree program or to study at
a university abroad. I have also taught hospital
workers and MUIC staff. Furthermore, MUIC is one
of the most prestigious universities in the
entire country. I am still currently employed
with MUIC, however I am considering various
options.
Go International, Chulalongkorn University
For a year and half I taught high school-aged
students and adults at this professional
teaching center. Since starting at Go Inter, my
students speaking and test scores have increased
significantly. Go International is
well-resourced facility and provides many
teaching workshops. It's a great place to learn
about curriculums, lesson planning and
delivering quality classes everyday.
Bangkok University Kluangnamtai Campus
At this university I taught “Presentations in
English,” to four classes of third-year
communications students. This involved
preparing students to give business and
topic-based presentations to different groups.
At the start of the semester I saw the need to
aid my students in using modern computer
programs. And in turn, I spent my time doing
so. Furthermore, I tutored students at Bangkok
University International College.
Satri Withaya Girl’s High School
Here I taught conversation to classes of between
30-40 students for one year, full time. I’ve
also been involved in curriculum development,
school projects and field trips. As well, I was
the academic coordinator at the high school.
This position entailed, orienting new teachers,
solving and foreseeing problems as they arise,
and promoting good relations between both Thai
and English teachers.
Siam Commercial Bank
For six-months I did business teaching in the
evenings for Siam Commercial Bank. Here I
taught two classes of ten corporate bankers. I
mostly covered business correspondence and
corporate language. I used the text books,
Business Venture and First Steps in Academic
writing.
“...Mike was exemplary in his performance,
demonstrating diligence and dedication.
Furthermore, he was well regarded amongst his
colleagues and students...”
Ajarn Supatana Jairakpong,
Head of the English Dept./
Satri Withaya High School
“…used videos and computers
effectively in the class…
He volunteered for opportunities
in the media center and
helped students to use PowerPoint… I
recommend him with great regard…”
Joseph Blake
Head of the English Department Bangkok
University
Rationale
For each of these places
and in the future I plan to instruct each
subject area using a wide variety of teaching
aids. As well I would like to use motivational
and implementation strategies to engage the
students in active learning.
