City Optics started off about 20 years ago and today we have about 20,000 clients who still come back for regular eye examinations.

Since then, we have upgraded our equipment and services to include hearing losses and eye diseases. This is easy as James is still practising in Singapore National Eye Centre. Therefore, should there be any eye disease detected by us, we will refer you to the respective eye doctor.

We also deal with children as young as 6 months old, and because of our experience in the Institute of Health (IOH) on the myopia programs where we fitted contact lenses for children and follow them for 3 years to check on the progress - we gained a lot of experiences in fitting myopia control lenses for children.

Other lenses include keratoconus and lenses that require special fitting that is only found in the hospital, are also available here. We not only fit glasses and contact lenses but also recommend suitable cosmetics and skincare for the eyes.

Life Without Sound Is Cold

Millions of people have difficulty hearing. “What did you say?” “I can hear but can’t understand.” “Some words are beginning to sound alike and it’s hard to tell them apart.” “Everyone seems to mumble.” Do you find yourself or someone you know making these comments? You’re not alone. Throughout the world, many people have problems with their hearing. There are more than 2.1 million cases of hearing impairment reported annually in the United States alone. Because hearing loss can develop over several years, most people are not aware of the extent of their loss until family or friends bring it to their attention. Even then the problem is often ignored or explained with excuses such as fatigue or “speaker’s mumble.”

	SYMPTOMS OF HEARING LOSS Recognizing a hearing loss in yourself or someone you know is the first step toward improving the situation. Often, among the first sounds, which “disappear”, are those in the higher frequencies, that is, those that are most high-pitched. From the listener’s point of view these sounds include : women’s and children’s voices birds’ singing Other symptoms of hearing loss include : Difficulty hearing in public gatherings concert halls, theaters, houses of worship where sound sources are far from the listener. Difficulty hearing television and/or on the telephone. Difficulty understanding conversation within a group of people.

At City Optics we will diagnose and select a hearing aid that will be suitable for your need and budget.
