Liang Huat has successfully accomplished the first two steps. Both
our Nanhai Hua Lian Aluminium Extrusion Plant in China and our Glaspec
Glass Processing Plant in Seremban Malaysia, with a total investment
value of about $28 million has been completed and fully commissioned.
In the same period, we have grown into a regional group comprising
of 26 companies with fabrication operations in Singapore, China,
Malaysia, Hong Kong, Thailand, Vietnam and India and in addition,
our trading activities extending further to Sri Lanka, Australia
and Mauritius.
The Trading Division, which started as a purchasing unit for aluminium
extrusions and hardware for the Fabrication Division, has over the
years developed into a core business in its own right.
Already a major distributor of aluminium extrusions in Singapore,
this Division’s recent focus has been on duplicating its expertise
in overseas markets as well as diversifying into the sourcing and
procurement of related materials for the Group’s own use and for
trading purposes. A growing network of overseas offices or representatives
has been established as part of a continuous effort to increase
its customer base and widen its product range.
This Division’s activity has grown significantly with the full commissioning
of the Group’s Nanhai Hua Lian Aluminium Extrusion Plant last year.
It has been working closely with the Nanhai Plant and Fabrication
Division in the development, marketing and sales of Nanhai’s full
range of products - high quality aluminium billets, mill finished
as well as anodised, powder coated and fluorocarbon extrusions for
architectural, engineering, electronics and other specialised uses.
The Trading Division will continue to strengthen its trading expertise
and build on its trading experience as an integral part of the Group’s
long-term growth and development plans both in Singapore and in
the Asia-Pacific Region.
