Abdominoplasty is a medical procedure also commonly known as
tummy
tuck. This surgical procedure removes excessive tissue and skin from the
abdominal wall. The procedure is designed to strengthen the muscles in the
region of the abdomen. Abdominoplasty surgery will leave a scar across the
abdomen. The extent of scarring is dependant on the amount of skin and tissue
removed and the skill of the surgeon.
Abdominoplasty can help to reshape an abdomen
that is resistant to traditional weight-loss methods. However surgery is not
a substitute for a proper diet and a normal exercise regime.
With any type of cosmetic surgery or plastic surgery, you should have a
realistic idea of why you want to undergo surgery and what you hope this
will achieve. Do take expert advice and discuss fully your needs and your
