The British Chamber of Commerce is without doubt the most prestigious chamber in Thailand. Of course I write with complete impartiality as I am a British citizen myself.

Joking aside The British Chamber should be given all credit for their charitable works that help the poor and underprivileged in Thailand. Vive La Chambre and God Save The Queen.

PLOENCHIT FAIR GRAND RAFFLE - REQUEST FOR PRIZES

PLOENCHIT FAIR - Saturday 18th November 2006

at BEC TERO HALL, Suan Lum Night Bazaar from 10 am to 5 pm

"BCCT GRAND RAFFLE"

The British Community in Thailand Foundation for the Needy (BCTFN) will hold its traditional fund-raising event - Ploenchit Fair - for Thai charities at the BEC Tero Hall, Suan Lum Night Bazaar, Wireless Road on Saturday 18th November 2006.

The theme of Ploenchit Fair is a traditional British family fairground. More than 2,000 members of the British community voluntarily organise and run the 100 stalls and attractions. British companies and organisations, together with international "friends", donate goods and materials. The largest attendance was in 2000 when over 25,000 people visited the Fair, thus enabling BCTFN to allocate funds for projects to over 40 different charities throughout Thailand.

Today the Ploenchit Fair is arguably the biggest event on the British calendar and is known and admired throughout South East Asia. Given the continued need for funds on the part of the charities we support we hope you will be able to assist us by donating a major prize or prizes for the Grand Raffle that is organised by the British Chamber of Commerce Thailand (BCCT).

Prize donors will be listed in the programme which is given to all attending the Fair and major (top 10-12) prize donors are listed on the back of the more than 50,000 raffle tickets. Prizes and prize-winning numbers will be listed in the Bangkok Post and BCCT/Ploenchit Fair websites the week following the Fair.

We would like to have the tickets ready for distribution in the first week of September and therefore have a printing deadline of Monday 7th August 2006.

Founded in 1946, the British Chamber of Commerce Thailand (BCCT) is the oldest foreign chamber and the largest non-Asian foreign chamber in Thailand. Membership of a Chamber of Commerce in Thailand is not an instant passport to success. The reasons to apply to be a member of a chamber is varied. From wanting to promote one's company to having a good excuse to go out for a beer. Chamber meetings were always THE places to see and be seen and to network and exchange ideas if not only business cards. Nowadays there are many more opportunities to network. Also networking happens daily with the ease of communication on the Internet.
