Founded in 1986, WBB Claymin is based near Bangkok, in a modern purpose-built office which houses the Company's administrative centre and central laboratory facilities. The Company has a regional office, including a showroom and the Geology & Mine Planning department, located in Lampang.
Ball Clays: WBB Claymin produce a range of blended ball clays from extensive deposits situated around Lampang in northern Thailand: at Mae Than, Jae Korn and Wang Nua. Geologically the oldest deposit, Mae Than offers 23 different clay selections, including both carbonaceous and non-carbonaceous. WBB Claymin's ball clay operations are certified to the ISO 9002 Quality Assurance standard.
Detailed drilling, testing and analysis precedes extraction of the clays, which is governed by rigorous Quality Control procedures. Each type of clay is selectively extracted and stored under cover prior to blending. Pre-determined quantities of the selected clay feedstocks are passed through a shredder ("kibbler") at the Company's Sopprab processing installation, ensuring thorough homogenisation of the blend and reducing piece size to around 8cm diameter, easing subsequent handling. The Sopprab installation also produces ground powdered clays at its milling facility.
Other ceramic raw materials: A range of feldspars, silica sand and china stone products are produced from indigenous deposits, and processed at the purpose-built plant at Bang Len, near the Thai capital of Bangkok. The Company also produce dry-ground red-firing bodies, eartenware and stoneware body and refined clay body from their prepared ceramic body plant.
