Company Profile: Since this is a government organization, there
are no products or services to sell unless to guarantee the follow up of
the friendship agreements that the Government of Flanders has signed
with various South East Asian countries and to monitor and follow up the
projects and activities mentioned and described under the subsequent
Letters of Intent. |
Training (granting scholarships), transfer of know-how (seminars
and workshops) and technology transfer (through consultancy contracts for
international expertise to the target countries) are the major subjects.
Background : Flanders Hydraulics is the first agency for who I have to carry out
various tasks. Flanders Hydraulics is an Antwerp based study service and
laboratory owned by the Flemish Government and specialized in experimental
research in hydraulics. Flanders Hydraulics is mainly specialized in (i)
hydraulic studies, (ii) hydraulic structures, (iii) hydrology, (iv)
environmental technical research, (v) sedimentology, (vi) nautical research, and
(vii) nautical training.
FITA is the second agency for who I have to carry out tasks. It stands for
"Flanders International Technical Agency". FITA is a non-profit organization
created on March 13, 1991, consisting of the private sector (ORI, VCB, and
various represented industries) and the public sector (Departments and
Administrations, technical regional institutions, other organizations such as
VVOB, Export Vlaanderen, Vlaamse Milieuholding International, Scientific
Institutions such as VLIR, IWT VITO and Flanders Socio-economic Council (SERV).
Its aims are (i) to make Flanders' achievements, knowledge, scientific and
technical capacities in various areas, known abroad. (ii) promoting the
participation of the Flemish business world, (iii) offering technical assistance
in response to requests from countries or regions which do not yet have the
skills needed to solve their own technical problems in the above-mentioned
fields, (iv) lending logistic and administrative support (partnerships), (v)
adding content to purposeful visits and training courses for delegations and/or
trainees from foreign countries or regions. |
