KPN-ST Logistics, a joint-venture company between Singapore
Technologies Logistics Pte Ltd (STL) and KPN, was established in April 1997 to
meet the growing demand for integrated and responsive logistic services in
Thailand.
STL is the logistics arm of the Sembawang Corporation Industries (SCI), whereas
Thai Warehouse and Narong Transport Company (which were previously known prior
to the Joint Venture) are subsidiaries of the KPN Group. These two subsidiaries
have more than 38 years and 12 years of experience in warehousing and
distribution respectively in Thailand.
We have positioned ourselves as an integrated logistics centre, providing our
customers with warehousing facilities, computerised inventory control, freight
forwarding management, etc. We are also in the process of developing specialised
value-added logistics services, such as computerised freight tracking, project
shipping management, preservation and packaging, procurement, and material
planning.
Our on-line computer network, linking our Group HQ and Corporate HQ, ensures
that we are able to monitor all cargo shipments, procurement, and warehousing
activities.
Our customers can have access to relevant management information by interfacing
their computers with our on-line system. With clear visibility of their
distribution operations, they are assured of reliable and integrated logistics
services from source to destination.
KPN-ST Logistics has been granted nation-wide operating licences for
warehousing, distribution, IT services management and transportation operations.
These group licences were already with the company prior to our Joint Venture
with KPN Group.
Based on current situation, KPN-ST Logistics is planning to invest into a modern
warehouse incorporating the latest technology and state-of-the-art, over the
next few years to strategically positioned itself to meet our customers'
requirements. In addition, introduction of the IT application of suitable and
cost effective technologies like vehicle tracking and scheduling system etc. The
goal is to enable our customers to benefit from a more reliable and
cost-effective warehousing and distribution network, thus enabling a greater
reach and faster response of our customers goods to the consumers in all the
major towns and provinces in Thailand.
KPN-ST Logistics network is able to cover the entire provinces and towns, within
24 to 72 hours, from its current location at BangnaTrad 21 km. To provide an
even better response time, KPN-ST Logistics intends to build up its network
country wide by establishing strategic provincial distribution points in the
major towns in the North, North-East and South. Correspondingly, these PDCs will
be linked with "on-line" IT network to provide real time tracking and
trackability for our clients. |
