Rayong : a prime area for the production of fish sauce. Rayong's
reputation as a major production centre of high-quality fish sauces is now well
established. Located on the coast, the city is blessed with a continuous,
year-round supply of raw materials. As a large fish sauce manufacturing unit,
Rayong Fish Sauce Industry Co.,Ltd, or RFI., naturally benefits form its coastal
location, its products are today widely consumed, both at home and abroad. Set
up in 1954 as a small-scale facility, the plant is today one of the largest fish
sauce producers in the country. Annual product is now in excess of 14 million
litres.
Stringent quality controls at all levels of production, packing and storing are
made easier with an extensive use of the latest technologies. RFI.'s production
process has even been awarded a certificate from the Thai Industrial Standards
Institute, a branch of the Ministry of Industry. The production process begins
with the selection of the resulting mix is left to naturally ferment for a
period of 12 months. The fish sauce is subsequently exposed to sunlight, a fully
natural process that is used to enhance the flavour of the product. In its final
production step, the product is then passed through a 3-micron filter.
The resulting product is scientifically tested in our laboratory. There, it is
evaluated on colour, aroma and taste. Each criteria being matched against our
strict quality standards. The product is now ready for bottling, a process
carried out in hygienic, stainless steel automatic filling machines, pre-heated
containers are also used to ensure germ-free packaging |
