SmartPost is a joint venture company between Samart E-Trading
Co., Ltd. a subsidiary of Samart Corporation and The Communications Authority of
Thailand (CAT) which established to provide the total solution in Electronic
Logistic Management.
SmartPost's concept is to provide the entire process of e-logistic management,
right from the creation of an order through the delivery to its final
destination. E-logistics is about management of information as it flows through
inter-related complex systems. On one hand, physical process of moving goods
from one point to the other; on the other hand, information aids the
decision-maker in controlling and adding value to the supply chain process.
For the physical process, Communications Authority of Thailand (CAT), the only
authorized postal service provider in Thailand, have the nationwide service
coverage area through its over 1,600 Post Offices plus 15 main Regional
Distribution Centers. Operating with more than 10,000 officers, CAT performs the
task of door-to-door delivery and holds the best expertise of postal and parcels
delivery in Thailand.
For the full scale of E-Logistic Management, SmartPost is allied with other
Samart's subsidiaries and other entities to provide the seamless e-logistic
management including Pick-up and Delivery Service, Nationwide Tracking System,
Electronic Data Interchange and Internet Payment Gateway.
History
During electronic era, e-logistic management has become an integral part of
strategic planning process, and Thailand still has no e-logistic provider.
SmartPost realized the importance and was established on October 2nd, 2000 to
fulfil this critical task.
The Communications Authority of Thailand (CAT) is a state enterprise under the
Ministry of Transport and Communications establish on the 25th February 1977 by
the provision of the Communications Authority of Thailand Act B.E. 2519. CAT
bears an essential responsibility for Thailand's postal and telecommunications
system. CAT' s role is to develop and apply the most advanced technology for the
benefit of the country and the public.
