Bangkok Dolls has been creating a variety of
exquisite handmade collectible Thai Dolls Since 1957. Each doll is
handcrafted by fine artisans, as they have been for generations. Every
year, thousands of people from around the world visit us in Bangkok.
Come see what makes a Bangkok Doll the perfect souvenir from Thailand.
The works of Bangkok Dolls are created by Khunying Tongkorn Chandavimol
with the help of about twenty artisans. These dolls are exquisitely
handcrafted to represent Thai Culture and have been found in the
collections of Royalty and Doll Collectors around the world for more
than four decades.
Bangkok Dolls have been awarded prizes internationally, that include
First Prize and the Honorary Gold Peacock Feather Award from The 3rd
International Folklore Dolls Biennial in Cracow, Poland. Over the years,
Bangkok Dolls has received praise from various people in the letters,
newspaper and magazine articles, books and our visitor's log.
Anyone planning a trip to Thailand may enjoy visiting the Bangkok Dolls
House and Museum. It is situated in an area of beautiful settings
according to Thai history and literature. The museum displays a large
collection of famous International dolls from all over the world.
"Bangkok Dolls" are authentically handcrafted to the most minute detail.
Exstensive research precedes each design. Antique costumes have been
based on museum originals, temple murals, and illustrations from antique
books. Contemporary costumes such as those of the Farmer and Hilltribe
dolls faithfully reproduce the clothing and ornaments of these people.
Thai Country People Dolls
The Thai country people are farmers, fruit vendors and housewives who
are going out to work. At leisure times and festivals, they get together
and enjoy themselves by singing and dancing. Their songs and dances are
the origins of regional folk traditions.
Thai Classical Dance Dolls
The Thai Classical Dance-Drama dolls are inspired by characters in a
Khon (Masked Play) performance which is an episode in the Ramakien,
based on the Ramayana of Valmiki. The chief characters are Rama, the
hero; Sida, the heroine; Thosaganth, the demon king; and Hanuman, the
white monkey general.
Hilltribe Dolls
Many hill tribes live on top of mountains in northern Thailand. They
wear colorful, embroidered clothing and beautiful headdresses.
