Qantas commenced flights to Thailand in November 1953 and
has grown considerably, with 26 flights now departing Bangkok each week
to London, Frankfurt, Rome, Sydney, Melbourne and on transfer to other
major cities in Australia. From the Bangkok hub, Qantas flies daily
non-stop to Sydney and London.
In Thailand, the airline joined British Airways under a Joint Service
Agreement in late 1995. At present staff of both airlines work together
both in the city and at the airport under joint management team of the
two airlines.
British Airways and its predecessors commended scheduled flights in
1919. Today British Airways is one of the world's most successful
airlines and currently operates to 166 destination in 85 countries.
British Airways and its affiliates fly to 255 destrinations in 102
countries around the world. The airline currently carries a total of 41
million passengers a year on its scheduled and charter flights. British
Airways has the largest fleet in Western Europe including the most
exciting aircraft in service today - The Concorde.
In February 1987, British Airways was privatised. In 1993, British
Airways and Qantas entered into a comprehensive 10-year marketing
agreement and British Airways holds a 25% shareholding in Qantas. From
Bangkok, British Airways operates non-stop daily flights to Sydney and
London.
British Airways' records of success has been built upon quality service,
a dedicated workforce, combined with marketing and cost controls.
Qantas and British Airways are members of oneworldTM global alliance
providing benefits to passengers. Other airlines in the oneworldTM
alliance are American Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Canadian Airlines,
Finnair, Iberia and LanChile. The eight airline members of oneworldTM
with their franchise and partner airlines have networks that serve 682
destinations in 159 countries |
