was established in 2003, produces and exports canned Tuna under the
stringent control and supervision of experienced specialists. They are
assisted by our highly able Laboratory technicians to ensure that all
our products are up to the highest quality standard and meet every
single requirement set by the countries which import our products. Our
Plant sanitation and hygiene are strictly controlled in order to meet
the international standards. P.B. Fishery Products Co., Ltd.'s
registered capital is Baht 65 million with the first year target of 50
tons raw material per day and 100 tons in the next 2 years operation.
The main objective is to produce the quality product at the minimum cost
by using the up-to-date machineries, skill workers, in-house training
program and new technology to maximize the fish yield percentage as well
as local raw material as many as possible in terms of buy local Baht
against export in foreign currencies. Additionally, the factory is
designed to cope up with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) according to
Thai law which will be imposed during May, 2003 and also to pass HACCP
(Hazard Accepted Critical Control Points) ensuring of their
standardization for export to EU and U.S. markets. On the other hand,
the company is also aiming to apply for B.O.I. (Board of Investment)
privilege in order to obtain the additional advantage. At the end of the
day, the company is confident to reserve the announcement as the best
SMEs' factory.
Thailand exports Canned Tuna Baht 18,700.00 million in 2000 and Baht
25,711.00 million in 2001 with more than 37.49% growth rate and
maintaining at Baht 26,000.00 million in 2002 (source : Export Promotion
Department, Ministry of Commerce, Thailand)
The reason to set up the plant at Rayong province is due to the fact
that there is no tuna cannery in the Eastern part of Thailand where is
claimed as the largest supplying area for fresh tuna. Not only to get
the right price by residing at the catching area but also to obtain the
cheap labor cost of Baht 140.00 in comparison to Baht 163.00 per day in
Samut Sakorn province (minimum wage per day). Indirectly, the
transportation cost for raw material is also very cheap by being at
spot. Moreover, the strong connection of Khun Ampun with tuna boat
owners can conveniently assure of at least 30 days buffer stock of raw
fish for normal requirement to ensure of the continuous daily
production.
Self-maintenance machines and the modernized machineries plus qualified
engineer can minimize the idle time risk in terms of out of order. As
earlier mentioned, the in-house training program can result to skilled
workers in achieving the maximum clean loins percentage than waste.
The habit of consumption has been rapidly changed for consumers whom
prefer to consume the dietary products than pork or beef for health
purpose. People are more care for their health and one has to admit that
fish are quite popular because of low cholesterol. Canned Tuna is also
considered as a commodity product which is basically good for health due
to DHA for brain and low fat therefore demand of this item has been
significantly increasing owing to low price but more nutritious for
body. The market is always there so it is not a question of demand or
how to sell the product.
By being the medium size factory aiming at the local fresh tuna, low
overhead cost, cheaper labor cost etc. gives benefits to the company due
to less competitors and free competition from the leading factories and
that is the main reason why a 100 tons raw material per day are set up
as the maximum production capacity for P.B. Fishery Products Co., Ltd.
As aforementioned above, the existing advantages and facilities plus on
hands markets, efficient and qualified personnel as well as full
confidence of this business for long years give the company's assurance
of success in the not too far distant.
By Baht 65.00 million own investment from shareholders and Baht 100.00
million loan from the bank will substantiate the company more than Baht
165.00 million worth investment with production capacity of 100 tons raw
fish per day in three years and turnover of Baht 775.00 million.
Finally, the success of the company will retain back of hard currency to
the country.
