The choice of rubber-wood is not incidental to BK Trading, but part of its
policy of protecting and saving the environment. Rubber tree is basically a tree
used to provide latex and nothing else. After the latex has been drained from
the wood, the tree is burned because there is no more use for it. New rubber
trees must be planted and new latex may again be derived. Companies such as BK-Trading
however, have found ways to use the wood instead of throwing them.
BK-Trading uses the rubber-wood to make the finest quality kitchen items such as
cutting boards, salad bowls, trolleys, and many others.
The company is always looking for new ways to help saving the environment and
helping environmental causes while doing business.
BK-Trading (Thailand) was founded in 1988 as a joint Thai-Danish venture, but
its beginnings can be traced back to 1956, as a family company founded by Boerge
Kjaersland. Mr. Kjaersland did own a factory in Denmark importing teakwood from
Thailand. When the ban on teakwood took effect and the competition became too
tough, he closed the factory down in Denmark and started production in Thailand.
This was in 1976.
From there, business increased and today, the company mainly uses rubber-wood as
base for their products (because it doesn't harm the environment and with its
systematic plantation and re-plantation, actually helps saves forests). The
company was the first to introduce rubber-wood to Europe.
BK-Trading (Thailand) was founded due to the need for full control of
operations, from production to actual delivery, so that all customers, wherever
they are around the world, are satisfied.
