It has been over 20 years since we started importing steel shot
and steel grit from overseas to use for blasting off scale and molding sand,
cutting granite and cleaning metal parts. We imported most of the steel shot and
steel grit from Japan. The small IKK steel shot was a high-demand product with
imports increasing every year.
Early in 1988, Siam Tochu Co., Ltd. manufacturer of a metal scrubbing machine
and distributor of the steel shot and steel grit in the country, decided to
build a steel shot and steel grit manufacturing plant in Thailand to replace
imports and reduce the trade deficit.
Siam Tochu Co., Ltd. consulted with Itoh Metal Abrasive Co., Ltd. the
manufacturer of IKK steel shot and steel grit in Japan, concerning the
possibility of constructing a steel shot and steel grit manufacturing factory in
Thailand, Siam IKK Co., Ltd. was established on 18 April 1988 and was registered
on 29 April 1998 with 32 million baht in capital as a join-venture between four
companies: Siam Tochu Co., Ltd, Itoh Metal Abrasives Co., Ltd. (Japan), Toyota
Tsusho Co., Ltd. (Japan) and Toyota Tsusho Co., Ltd. (Thailand).
Our factory, located in the Bangpoo Industrial Zone, Muang Muang, Samutprakarn
Province, was the first of its type to receive support from the Board of
Investment. The original production capacity was 2,000 tons per year. Production
of steel shot and steel grit began on 22 April 1989.
Since the company began manufacturing and distributing the product to the market
in and outside the country, we have earned a high level of trust for quality and
service from our valuable foreign customer in Taiwan, Malaysia, Indonesia, New
Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Australia, India, Bangladesh, Hong Kong and
various Middle-East countries. This reputation created such a high demand that
the company was unable to completely satisfy the customer requirements. In 1992,
our production increased to 10,000 ton per year, a three-fold increase over
production in the previous years.
Meanwhile, demand for (shot blasting machine) parts has increased tremendously
by estimated from an increasing demand for steel shot and steel grit.
The company envisions that the demand for the metal alloys will increase
enormously in the future. Therefore, the company has constructed the high
alloying factory which has increased from 32 million baht to 48 million baht.
