The Thai-Korean Chamber of Commerce is based at the Korean embassy in Bangkok. Korea in the latter
part of the 20th century became an alternative manufacturing base to
Japan for many western companies. It was then overshadowed by it's major
neighbor to the north China. Nowadays South Korea has developed
considerably and is not now classed as a developing country.

Korean
manufacturers produce goods in their own right rather than outsourcing
for foreign manufacturers. So with the low overheads of raw materials
and especialy labour Korean manufacturers are now, like the Japanese,
outsourcing production to Thai manufacturers or indeed like Samsung
setting up their own factories. Thai-Korean Chamber of Commerce (KTCC)
was established on November 7, 1977 in accordance with the Chamber of
Commerce Act B.E. 2509 (A.D. 1966) by a distinguished group of Thai and
Korean businessmen and traders, under the leadership of Mr. Chuan
Aroonratana, President of the International Commercial Center and Mr.
Ahn, Kyeng-June, Director of the Korea Trade Center in Bangkok (KOTRA)
for the promotion of trade, industry, agriculture, finance and economic
cooperation between the Kingdom of Thailand and the Republic of Korea.
