C-Mix Universal Co., Ltd has developed its own
recipes for organic bread spreads and seasoning sauces.
C-Mix operates a small factory in Nakhon Pathom that makes a variety of
bread spreads _ mixed wheat, black sesame, green tea, garlic, mixed
fruits and tom yam kung, for example _ and also two flavours of dipping
sauces: pineapple and carrot. The company has been supplying all of its
products under the C-Nature brand to restaurants serving organic dishes
in Bangkok.
Among the six spread flavours, tom yam kung is expected to be the most
popular among international consumers. Mr Prutthiphong himself is not a
culinary expert, nor has he inherited any secret recipes from his
family. But with a thirst to set up a food processing business, he has
no shortage of business ideas. Upon learning that the National Science
and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) had been offering support for
small- and medium-sized firms to develop new products, C-Mix sought its
help to develop new food recipes that could help realise the company's
marketable ideas.
The company and the NSTDA invested equally in the 160,000-baht research
project to invent new organic bread spreads and dipping sauce recipes,
aimed at attracting health-conscious consumers in the niche market of
organic food. The research was conducted by the Institute of Food
Research and Product Development, Kasetsart University, under the
agreement that the holder of the sole rights to the recipes was C-Mix
Universal.
C-Mix is now planning to produce 10 more flavours of bread spreads,
while looking for the opportunity to export its products to Singapore
and later to Europe.
