EAN Thailand is part of The Federation of Thai
Industries (FTI), a non-profit organization, was appointed by GS1global
Office (Formerly EAN International) to administer GS1 System bar code
utilization and take on a leading role in Thailand. Therefore, GS1
Thailand (formerly known as EAN Thailand), was established on February
26, 1993 under the supervision of FTI to take responsibilities as
following:
Act as an intermediary for manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers and
consumers to support and promote GS1 System bar code and electronic data
communication in Thailand.
Act as a registry to issue GS1 System identity numbers to members.
Study, research and disseminate new inventions on equipment, technology,
information, news or message pertaining to the use and printing of GS1
System bar code.
Encourage and support the members on system improvement of data capture
and manage product information effectively.
Develop and promote e-commerce information technology and relevant to
facilitate trade transactions and EDI (Electronic Data Interchange).
Promote and develop the applications of GS1 System bar code and EDI for
Supply Chain & logistics.
Function as Secretariat to ECR Thailand (Efficient Consumer Response).
