Facelift or Rhytidectomy is the cosmetic
procedure for tightening the sagging skin and muscles underneath to give a
youthful appearance. This is the process that can not stall the aging
process or bring back the elasticity of your skin, what it does is render a
fresher and energetic look.

"Rhytids" are wrinkles, hence rhytidectomy refers to the removal of
wrinkles. The term is a bit misleading since what facelift actually does
best is lift the sagging tissues of the cheeks, correct the jowls created by
the sagging tissue overhanging the jawbone, and correct the bands of tissue
in the neck.
Many times other procedures are combined with the facelift,
including lid surgery, brow lift, and laser resurfacing around the eyes or
mouth. Facelift improves large, deeper folds in the face that are a
consequence of sagging tissues but it does little to correct the fine
wrinkling from sun exposure, smoking, and aging. The incisions are hidden in
the hair both above and behind the ear and blend well with the fold in front
of the ear.
