Neck lift (Rhytidectomy)
Neck lift surgery also called
submentoplasty, is a surgical procedure that helps to improve the
contour of the neck. During the ageing process, the skin and muscle
underneath the chin area starts to relax and downward sagging of the neck
tissues occurs. This Loose and excess fatty tissues underneath the jaw leads
to a deformity often called a double chin
Patients with this double chin problem can be treated by removing
this excess fatty tissue by a procedure called micro-cannula liposuction.
Another method is to directly remove by excision through a small incision
under the chin. Surgery also involves reshaping the underlying neck muscles
(platysmaplasty) and performing liposuction to remove excess fat deposits.
Neck lift surgery can take years off of your looks and recovery time after
neck lift surgery is usually short with little discomfort. During the
recovery period after surgery a compressive bandage is worn around the neck.
If a patient experience pain this can be controlled with low-dosage
prescription medication. |

Some bruising and swelling can occur for up to ten
days after the surgery. Patients are normally able to return to work soon
after the neck lift procedure as long as the swelling is not
excessive or bothersome.
